PHCC of California offers a journeylevel certification open book examination that consists of 125 questions based on the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code:

• 50 Multiple Choice
• 25 Gas (based on a drawing)
• 25 Water (based on a drawing)
• 25 Drain Waste Vent (based on a drawing)

The examination is 3 hours in length.

The Certification categories are:

Journeylevel Plumber - You must have four or more years of documented experience working for a licensed plumbing contractor.

Service & Repair Technician - You must have two or more years of documented experience working for a licensed plumbing contractor.

Required Documentation

You must submit the following documents along with your completed application form 20 days before the exam date:

• W-2 Forms supporting work experience.
• Notarized letter on company letterhead stating duties performed and dates of employment.
• Passport-sized photograph

For Licensed Plumbing Contractors only: You may submit a copy of your pocket or wall license in lieu of W-2 forms and the notarized letter.
